Year2026

A recurring set of pubmats announcing SM Supermalls' industry award wins in 2026, starting with a 2-Silver win at the ICSC Maxi Awards in May for the Community and Experiential categories, and continuing the following month into four program wins and a CMO of the Year win at the 20th Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards in June. These creative materials are built as a reusable template in Canva so the design could keep pace as each new result came in, across two separate award bodies, instead of starting from zero every time.

The Brief

SM Supermalls scored multiple wins, across multiple award bodies within the same year. Announcement needed to be fast across their social medias, and needed to look consistent whether it was one post or five, all within SM Supermalls' existing brand system.

Approach

Working on this design meant designing within SM's established brand identity: their blue, the diagonal motion-streak texture, Henry Sans across every headline. The challenge was keeping the template unmistakably SM while still making clear, at a glance, that each poster was announcing a different award.

Canva was the deliberate choice, not just for the design, but for handoff. Once built, SM's team could swap in a new winner photo themselves, no routing back through me. The frame and type stayed locked; only the photo changed hands.

The ICSC Maxi poster came first and set the structure: lockup up top, framed photo, then tier, award mark, and category in a bottom stack. A large "2 Silver Awards" numeral anchors the headline.

When Tambuli landed a month later, the same frame absorbed a new award body with a slight redesign, just a new photo, copy, and mark. The tier callout flexes most: gold for Bronze, cooler grey for Silver, legible at a glance whether the win stood alone or sat in a run of four.

Execution

Rolled out across SM Supermalls' social channels as results came in, starting with the ICSC Maxi win in May and following into the Tambuli run in June, with the Canva build keeping turnaround tight across both award bodies: for each template system, swap the photo, swap the copy, keep the frame.

Outcome

Multiple posts across two award bodies in the same year, that read as one coordinated announcement system rather than a series of one-off design jobs. Proof the template held up beyond its original brief, and stayed usable in SM's hands after handoff.
